Student Council

The Student Council at Our Lady of Mount Carmel exists to provide leadership opportunities, social experiences and service to the student body and wider community. The student council officers and representatives are elected by the student body. The council meets monthly to discuss ideas and create activities that promote school spirit while helping others. Some great examples include a recent movie and popcorn day. The students at OLMC were given the chance to dress down and watch a movie on the big screen while enjoying popcorn. Students were asked to donate one dollar which was sent to the john Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. The students who participate in this organization feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in their school and community.


OLMC Student council is an organization that allows the students to be more involved with school activities and functions. Student council consists of a governing body that officers and representatives from grades 4 through 8. Officers are from the eighth grade class.

The officers and representatives meet monthly to discuss and plan school activities. Some activities from recent years include a Halloween costume contest, dress down days, a candy-gram, bake sale and Mardi Gras celebration and service projects. Students who wish to be part of Student Council must meet the following criteria:

  • Must maintain a C average
  • Be willing to work extra hours
  • Be able to communicate ideas and activities to students and adults
  • Parental permission to join student council
