Welcome to Pre-School!
Welcome to Pre-School three-year-olds and new students! Welcome back to our returning friends! We will be having our Back-to-School picnic on Sunday, August 22nd. Families are invited to tour the school from noon until 1:00, and then the picnic will follow. We will have our Pre-School orientations for students and parents on Wednesday, September 1st. The three-year-olds and their families will meet at 9:00 a.m., and the four-year-olds and families will meet at 10:00. Please bring all supplies to school on orientation day.
The first day of school for the three-year-olds will be Thursday, September 2nd, and the first day for four-year-olds will be Friday, September 3rd. Please remember to mark your child’s name on all personal items brought to school such as bookbags, jackets and folders. Thank you!
We are very excited to welcome our new afternoon Pre-School teacher, Miss Freeman. She will be working with the all-day students on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and with the five-days-a-week students on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We know the children will love her!
If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to call me at 825-2822. I am looking forward to this year with your child.
Pre-School preview
During the month of September, the three-year-olds will be exploring the colors red, yellow and blue. They will also begin recognizing their first names as we use their placemats each day at snack time. They will be learning our Pre-School routine, and strengthening their social skills as they share and play with their new friends. This is an exciting time for them and for us!
The four-year-olds will have a “Letter of the Week” each week. During September, we will explore the letters Aa, Bb, and Cc. We will brainstorm and count words which begin with each letter, and our other activities will be structured around that week’s letter. For example, we will paint the letter A with apple halves dipped in paint, make masterpieces using a ball in a box during Bb week, and use capes in the gym during letter Cc week. Students will also be exposed to beginning sight words, and will be bringing home a small book to “read” to you each week. I’m sure you will enjoy their enthusiasm as they take a turn reading to you!
