Hello Epic friends!

Today, we’re diving into the two critical aspects of SEO: On-Page and Technical SEO. Understanding and implementing both can significantly boost your website’s performance and visibility.

On-Page SEO focuses on optimizing individual web pages to rank higher and attract more relevant traffic. Technical SEO deals with the backend structure and foundation of a website. Both are essential for a comprehensive SEO strategy. Let’s break down each one.

On-Page SEO Priority List:

  1. Content: Ensure your content is high-quality, relevant, and engaging. Use targeted keywords naturally within the content to make it informative and valuable to the reader.
  2. Title Tags and Meta Descriptions: These elements help search engines understand the content of a page. Title tags should be concise and include primary keywords, while meta descriptions should provide a brief summary of the page content.
  3. Header Tags (H1s, H2s, etc.): Proper use of header tags helps structure the content, making it easier for search engines to crawl and understand. It also improves readability for users.
  4. Internal Linking: Linking to other relevant pages within your website helps search engines understand the relationship between pages and can improve the overall site structure.
  5. Image Optimization: Use descriptive file names and alt text for images to help search engines understand the content of the images, which can improve search visibility. (We’ll touch on the importance of original images in a future newsletter.)

Technical SEO Priority List:

  1. Site Speed: Fast-loading pages are crucial for both user experience and search engine rankings. Optimize images, leverage browser caching, and minimize JavaScript to improve site speed.
  2. Mobile-Friendliness: Ensure your website is optimized for all types of devices. This includes using responsive design and ensuring that mobile pages load quickly.
  3. XML Sitemaps: An XML sitemap helps search engines understand the structure of your website and find all the important pages. It acts as a roadmap for search engines to crawl the site more efficiently.
  4. Robots.txt: This file tells search engines which pages they can or cannot crawl (they don’t always listen, but I digress). Proper configuration of the robots.txt file ensures that search engines can access the important parts of your site.
  5. HTTPS: Security is a ranking factor, and using HTTPS ensures that your website is secure, which can improve trust and rankings.
  6. Structured Data: Implementing structured data (schema markup) helps search engines understand the content of your pages better and can enhance search results with rich snippets.

By focusing on both on-page and technical SEO, you can create a strategy that not only attracts more visitors but also keeps them engaged. Remember, SEO is an ongoing adventure that requires regular updates to stay ahead of the competition. Implementing these tips will help ensure your website remains visible, relevant, and authoritative.
